The Javier López gallery presents Stars, the second solo exhibition held in Spain by Leo Villareal (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, 1967). It represents a step further in the artist’s exploration through technology of light’s space-time narrative structures. With this new series, the author wants to evoke cosmic phenomena such as the birth of the universe.
His work originates in light - an element for which he confesses feeling a great fascination - in order to establish certain rules with which he creates combinations in which changes of friction or speed shape a sequence or ephemeral trail, as if we were dealing with a small constellation in movement. Stars shows three pieces created using the most recent LED technology, each of them composed by very tiny white bulbs set in a metal frame whose sequence of movements is controlled by software created in a mini Mac.
